Comprehensive Odor Assessment and Improvement Proposal for Large Railway Station Facilities

Our company has long been engaged not only in the development and supply of deodorizing raw materials, but also in advancing our expertise in odor measurement and analytical technologies. Leveraging this knowledge, we have also been actively involved in proposing practical improvement solutions for various odor-related challenges.

Recently, we were commissioned by a railway facility management company to conduct a comprehensive odor survey and improvement proposal for restroom environments at a major railway station. We were involved in this project for approximately one year.

At the client’s organization, there was a growing need to review and optimize restroom cleaning operations in response to declining population trends and changes in work styles, including the consideration of reducing cleaning frequency from twice daily (day and night) to once at night.

Rather than limiting our role to measurement alone, we provided comprehensive support throughout the entire process, including:

・Identification and analysis of primary odor sources

・Localization of odor generation points

・Risk assessment following potential reduction in cleaning frequency

・Proposal of improvement measures (optimization of cleaning routes and tools, introduction of odor control solutions, etc.)

・Post-implementation effectiveness verification

Through these efforts, we contributed to providing a scientifically grounded basis for decision-making, supporting the client in successfully reviewing and optimizing their cleaning operations.

Through this initiative, we are deeply honored to have contributed to addressing a social challenge: achieving both reduced operational burden and maintaining comfort in public spaces used by a large number of people.
